I have been a fan for about 5 years now but haven't caught a show yet(I live in Bama). I have always been a fan of the first 2 Maiden albums and heard once upon a time that Scalzi was a huge fan of these as well.

Atavism II is my favorite song at the moment. No offense but I thought Hardworlder was a bit slow for my taste yet better than most things out there. Ape Uprising was more my speed.

Anyway I just wanted to say thanks for the originality. And if anyone can recommend something similar to the band I would appreciate it. I have heard HoM and most of the other friends on the Myspace. Just trying to find those diamonds in the rough.

It's hard to recommend any similar bands since, like you said, the thing with Slough Feg is that they are very original.

The only two bands I can think of at the top of my head is Brocas Helm, who you probably have heard already since they're among Slough Feg's top friends on myspace, and a very underestimated band called Killingsworth.
They where another San Francisco act that only released one excellent album before they disbanded and disappeared.
If you ever find their "Viking Steel" album it's a must buy!

Valkyrie is a band I've found that appeals to the Slough Feg in me. That's not to say they sound the same at all. The main similarity is the stripped down sound and maybe some of the guitar work. They just have their own sound that Slough Feg fans might enjoy. Check out False Dreams and Dawntide's Breeze on their Myspace.

Their Man of Two Visions album is one of the best albums I've bought in many years.

Totally! Valkyrie are really cool, we played with them once at an Alehorn Fest. Very good group of guys as well, support them if you can.

I have both Valkyrie full lengths, but never seen them live...

Since we're talking about bands that have shared stages (and in this case even shared a seven inch) with Slough Feg AND Valkyrie, I can recommend Bible of the Devil as well. Their latest album should really appeal to Slough Feg fans.

Definitely.

Two bands I can think of are Bible of The Devil and Pale Divine.

PD is a more DOOM METAL than SF, but has some great songs.

I found these guys a while ago and thought they had a very nostalgic sound yet with something new. It's not the most technical sound but their first album is the best.

Check out Hollow Hills and Fear Dearg. The other 2 songs are from a newer album that I just cant get into(vocal issue for me).

Dark Forest sound pretty good. I have to agree with you on the newer songs. The new vocalist isn't doing it for me. Some of those songs are straight up Slough Feg worship.
