Write for BornInBlood
We are always looking for new writers to help with the backlog of stuff we need to review and bands we need to interview; currently there are four types of position available on the site.
- Casual Writer
This is someone who doesn’t write a lot but likes to review the odd gig or a CD every once in a while, stuff would be done totally off your own back but we would showcase it on the site. The two things to note here are that the article can’t be on a load of other websites and each article would be judged on an article by article basis. If you review something that is already being reviewed by someone on the full team, your review would have to wait. This would be perfect for people who are thinking about becoming a reviewer/interviewer but aren’t sure if they have the commitment to write regularly.
- Full-Time Writer
This is for someone who really loves their metal and likes to write about it, if interested and you are selected you would become a member of staff and reviewers/interviews would be selected by you from our pool of work and of course you can submit your own favourites as articles too. You would be expected to contribute at least one article a month and there is a possibility of money from it.
- Local Expert
This position harks back to when BornInBlood first started, the idea behind it was to help unsigned bands, and part of that is helping them find gigs outside of their local area, but to do this we need people who really know about their local area to help build up a knowledge base that could be used as a useful resource. The type of things this person would be doing is collecting information on the local bands, promoters and venues. Letting us know of local gigs and basically being our eyes and ears on the ground in that area. Local can mean your local city, or in the case of smaller countries the entire country.
- Flyer Grabber
This isn’t actually for BornInBlood, but another metal site ran by me Metal-Flyer – your job would be to collect old and new flyers from different metal bands and upload them onto the site, there is very little technically you need to know, you just have to have the time and dedication to do this.
If you are interested in helping out with any of these things, please get in contact.
Small Print
Any article submitted to the site needs to be at least 250 words in length, written in English that is easy to read and has been checked for grammar and spelling.
Any sub-genre of metal is allowed to be talked about, but anything outside of the realm of metal would have to be ran past me.
If given the option, BornInBlood will always accept digital media over physical, this is because it is cheaper for the bands and makes circulation easier, if you are thinking of joining us because you get some really cool swag, I would think again. There are times when physical stuff does come in and by all means these can and will be posted out to reviewers, but we mainly deal in digital. Speaking of swag actually, on occasion record labels will send us free stuff, just because they can. When this happens I will be more than happy to pass it out amongst staffies!
This site is completely not for profit and any money made by the few ads we have on here that doesn’t go on paying for the hosting, will be split amongst people who have written for the site that month, the more you write, the bigger your cut would be. This is a perk and unfortunately not something that could be expected every month (in fact, I can’t remember in recent times when we have broke even!) this is something we want to improve upon however.
